Promotions & Boost Plans — Help Centre
Sella gives your ads more visibility through paid promotions. Everything is automatic: the moment your M-Pesa payment is confirmed, the system activates your promotion, sends an SMS and email receipt, and starts boosting your ad(s) immediately — no waiting for a human to approve it.
How paying works (all promotions)
- Choose a promotion and tap to pay. You'll get an M-Pesa STK push on your phone.
- Enter your M-Pesa PIN to confirm.
- Within seconds Safaricom confirms the payment to Sella.
- The system works out the promotion automatically and applies it. You receive an SMS + email receipt, and an in-app notification.
If a payment is interrupted, nothing is charged for an unconfirmed prompt. You can simply try again.
Boost Plans (seller subscriptions)
A Boost Plan lifts the ranking of every ad on your account at once — including ads you post later while the plan is active. You don't promote ads one by one. The higher your tier, the higher your ads rank and the more places they appear.

What happens when you subscribe
- Instant: all your live ads start ranking higher the moment payment confirms.
- Automatic for new ads: any ad you post while the plan is active is boosted too — you do nothing extra.
- Self-expiring: when the plan period ends, the boost simply stops. Nothing to cancel.
- Stacking time: renewing before expiry adds to your remaining days, so there's no gap.
- Longer = cheaper: 3, 6 and 12-month terms get 10%, 20% and 30% off.

Per-ad promotions (one ad at a time)
Prefer to promote a single ad? These work on individual listings and also activate automatically on payment:
- Sponsored (Trending): puts one ad in the Trending strip on the homepage and browse pages for a set number of days.
- Featured / Boost: pushes one ad to the top of search and category results for a set number of days.
- Advertise on PPP TV: features your ad on national PPP TV and across Sella for extra reach.
- Boost an event: from My events, boost a specific event to the top of the Events page, the top of event search, and onto the homepage for a set number of days.
Tip: a Boost Plan is usually better value if you have several ads, because it covers them all — and every new one — at once.
Verified Seller
Becoming a Verified Seller adds a trust badge to your profile and ads, helping buyers choose you with confidence. After payment your application is submitted for a quick review.
Sella Wallet & Credits
Top up your Sella Wallet via M-Pesa (1 Credit = KSh 1) and use the balance to pay for promotions without entering M-Pesa each time. Top-ups are credited automatically once M-Pesa confirms.
Frequently asked
Do I need to wait for approval after paying?
No. Activation is automatic and immediate once M-Pesa confirms your payment.
Does a Boost Plan cover ads I post later?
Yes — while your plan is active, every new ad is boosted automatically at your tier.
What happens when my plan or promotion expires?
The boost stops on its own and your ads return to normal ranking. You're never charged again unless you renew.
Where are my receipts?
Every payment sends an SMS and email receipt, and appears in Wallet & Payments.
